Carrying twigs, women, men and bodaboda operators held a peaceful demonstration to express their anger, saying the rain season was now here and the roads had become impassable.

“Imagine you have a passenger on board, dropping them is very easy, causing an accident. The rider is no longer in control of the rider but the mud dictates the ride,” said Kamau Waweru, a bodaboda operator.

Mary Wangeci, a resident, said she does not use a bodaboda when it rains for fear of not being safe.

“I once saw somebody fall off a bodaboda, and let me tell you it was not a good sight, and I do not want the same to happen to me,” said Wangeci.

She appealed to the county government of Kiambu, under the direction of Sigona Ward representative Mutonya Njenga to repair the roads.

“Why is the county government leaving us to live in such a state? Let them allocate some money for the roads to be repaired and leveled,” said Wangeci.

Sigona is a highly productive agricultural area with fertile soils and good climate. However, it will be difficult to ferry out farm products with the roads in such a sorry state.
