Followers and supporters of Cord leader, Raila Odinga have refuted claims that he should retire from active politics due to old age.
Supporters now claim that Jubilee is using all means to intimidate the leader after all he has done for this nation.
Speaking at Laini Saba shopping centre, Raila's supporters said that Raila should be allowed to engage in active politics without any intimidation from Jubilee administration.
"When Jomo Kenyatta was given power by Mzee Oginga Odinga at the age of 78 years, was Odinga the mzee mad. When Raila said Kibaki 'Tosha' where Kibaki was in a wheelchair and at the age of 74 years, Raila was a good man. Now when Raila asks for your support at the age of 72 years only, you say he is too old to rule? Kenyans should stop the hypocrisy. Kenyans should be patriotic and vote for Raila Odinga in 2017," said Jane Onyango.
''We should learn to appreciate other people. Raila has done a lot for this nation. He should be respected. Asking Raila to retire from politics will make Kenya go back to the Moi era. Raila fought for the new constitution and the person who was opposing it is now claiming to become the presidents under the same constitution he was opposing. Will he follow it now?" questioned James Njonjo.
Clifford Odour said that Raila's age should not be the issue in Kenyan politics since it is not important.
"Raila is more than an asset in Kenyan politics. He should be given respect. Jubilee leaders should appreciate what he has done rather than telling him to quit politics. What if he opposed the constitution in 2010, where would Kenya be now? Age does not matter, otherwise, leadership for young people is doomed. See how we are suffering in the slums, no water, high prices of commodities and insecurity. If Raila becomes president in 2017, Kenyans will enjoy his leadership," argued Odour.
