Residents of Makao estate in Bahati constituencies on Thursday evening forcefully took two sick children belonging to an Akorino Christian sect family to hospital.
It is alleged that the parents have been adamant of seeking medical attention for the children as it is against their religious beliefs.
David Ayimba resident said the family had been speculating about the health of the Akorino couple’s children for long before they decided to forcefully take them to hospital.
We noted that they were not doing well health wise and their parents are not willing to take them to hospital,” said Ayimba.
Ayimba said that the malnourished children had been coughing chronically. “The neighbours stormed the house at around 4pm and took the two to hospital,”said Ayimba.
who operates an Mpesa shop in the estate. They alleged the sick children could be suffering from a contagious disease which could spread to other children in the neighbourhood.
Another eye witness Monicah Wangui said the neighbours had mobilised other residents of the estate before grabbing the children from their mother and took them to Menengai Medical Centre where they were treated freely.
She added that the irate residents did not bother with the woman identified as Martha Muthoni wild protests and curses.
“The residents were very angry on the manner the couple was treating the children. They even threatened to take the children to the Nakuru Children’s home for good care as they were suffering from malnutrition,” said Wangui.
