Speaking on Thursday morning on receiving the information that the chief was revoked,the residents said: "He deserved to be fired. He had no respect to his leaders and the people who are dependent on his leadership."

Stephen Kamau, added that the chief was a disgrace to the fight against illicit brew and moral code.

"The chief is a disgrace to the battle against illicit brew and he was setting a bad example of behaviour in the society," said Kamau.

Joseph Rotich, an assistant chief from Mawingu was dismissed by Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Wanyama Musiambu on Wednesday for drunkenness while on duty.
