Residents drawn from Iyabe in Kisii South Sub-county and its environs on Thursday held peaceful demonstration over their discontent with the poor services offered to patients at Iyabe sub-county hospital.
Led by area Nyumba Kumi Chairperson Nelson Manduku, the residents complained of laxity and negative attitude shown by the hospital staff which has led to the loss of life at the facility in situations they feel could have been prevented.
They claimed that the nurses and the clinical officer have been leaving behind trainees to handle emergency cases particularly at night or during weekends adding that they have nowhere to take their patients when an emergency arises.
“We call on the county government to overhaul the entire medical staff at the hospital and hire new ones to improve services at the facility which has increasingly acquired a poor reputation,” said Manduku.
The public outcry comes barely few days after another demonstration was staged in the hospital over “Laxity” whereby two accident victims died to what they termed as negligence by the medics.
When contacted Kisii South Sub-county Medical Superintendent Dr Felix Mageka his phones were off.
