Residents at Kiong'anyo village, Kisii County are requesting the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) to restore power in the area.
Speaking to Hivisasa on Tuesday, the villagers claimed that they have been in the dark for one week now after an electric pole feel down.
"Since last week we have been in total black out. We now depend on parafin which is expensive to use," Ms Ann moraa a local said.
The pole went down due to heavy winds in the area and caused the blackout.
Ms Moraa said that despite making a report at the KPLC offices nothing has been done to restore normalcy.
"We are now wondering what is taking the electricity provider so long to act," she said.
The blackout has also seen business people count losses.
"Its very unfortunate that my poshomill has remained closed since power went off. We request KPLC to intervene and assist us," said John Akama.
Yesterday KPLC in a statement said that the matter will be looked into in the next 24 hours.
