Residents of Kikuyu town have appealed to the county government of Kiambu to improve drainage before the onset of heavy rains.
The residents claim that drainage system in the area is poor and that they are worried as heavy rains start.
Speaking to this writer on Monday, the residents said that drainage has been a serious issue in the area.
“The county government should renovate drainage systems before the onset of heavy rains and save us from the agony we go through,” said Shiko Kamau, a resident.
According to the locals, the government had been promising to improve drainage system but nothing is happening.
The locals urged area MP Kimani Ichungwa to push for renovation of drainage systems. They said that the roads are being repaired but drainage systems have been neglected.
On Thursday while touring the area, MP Kimani Ichungwa said all roads and drainage systems will be renovated.
The MP called on road contractors to ensure that they improve the drainage.
On Tuesday last week, Kiambu Roads and transport Minister Njeri Gatabaki said the county was working on road repairs and drainage renovations.
The minister said that Sh94 million has been set aside for repair of rural roads and drainage systems.
