The three floodlights, erected using CDF money each costing Sh3.8 million in Chabera, Kadongo and Ringa trading centres have improved the security of the area.

Speaking to our reporter, traders in these centres noted that the floodlights have reduced crime, prolonged hours of doing business amongst other benefits.

Pamela Okoth, one of the traders at Ringa trading centre said in the past, before the lights were erected, they used to close early due to fear of criminal attacks.

“Traders here nowadays do their businesses even up to midnight because of this powerful light,” she said.

In the neighboring Kadongo trading centre, Nereah Okeyo said crime rate in the centre has reduced drastically since the project was initiated.

“Most criminals were attacking us as we go home from the market to rob us of the cash we have traded but that now is not there since they fear the light,” observed Okeyo.

It is the same story in Chabera, as Peter Nyambuga; a local trader confirms that shop breaking that was witnessed in the area is a thing of the past.

Nyambuga asked the MP to erect more lights in other markets in the constituency, an appeal Osele has promised to implement by erecting more lights in Mikayi, Ramba and Kochola trading centers.

“As the MP, it remains in my plan that every trading centre in the constituency has a light and that will be done before my term ends in 2017,” asserted Osele.
