Mavoko Sub County residents have lauded the management of the Kenya Meat Commission for allowing the community around use its stadium for free.
Jane Nangina said locals use the stadium for various reasons without any bureaucracy or unnecessary protocols.
“We as a community are very pleased with the Kenya Meat Commission’s management, it has given an okay to use its Athi River town based stadium for free at all times we are in need,” said Nangina.
Kennedy Mwende said the community uses the grounds for various activities ranging from sports, athletics, crusades and recruitment into police forces frequently.
Janet Ngari on her part said she was impressed to see even members of the Maasai community from the neighbouring Kajiado County use the stadium to graze their cattle without any interference from the Kenya Meat Commission’s management.
The residents who spoke to this writer in Athi River town separately urged locals not to take advantage of the management’s leniency to grab part of the land or cultivate it with intent of conducting farming activities for their own personal gain.
They said they were so impressed to see the ground serve the residents even more than it does to the company that owns it.
