Speaking on Wednesday after the launch of the plant, the residents expressed optimism that cases of discoloured teeth could soon be a thing of the past.

"I believe the plant will go along way in addressing cases of discoloured teeth because of fluoride quantity in water will be reduced," said Martha Mwangi.

Her sentiments were echoed by Tom Juma, who said that Naivasha residents had become a butt of jokes due to their unimpressive dentition but that was now poised to change.

The exercise, which was part of the World Water Day celebrations also saw the CS launch roof water and handwashing programme at Mirera primary school, which was the host.

Albert Kariuki, another resident said Wamalwa had done them a great favour for commissioning the projects. According to the ministry of Health, Water in Naivasha and its environs contain a lot of flouride which is responsible for discolouring teeth.
