The bridge was swept by heavy El -Nino rains November last year and its reconstruction commenced mid-March 2016.

According to residents from both sub-counties, Kathiani Mp worked tirelessly alone towards the reconstruction of the bridge until it became operational on April 15.

"I am a happy businessman now that this road is back to normal, thanks to Mbui," said Musau.

Another business lady who gets products from Kathiani running her business in Kangundo town could not hide her joy.

"I am very thankful and wishing that Mp Katatha could emulate Mp Mbui. If they could have joined hands, action on bridge reconstruction could have been taken immediately the bridge collapsed and we could not have incurred many losses," said Pauline Kaveke.

In the beginning of year 2016,  Mbui presented a petition in the national government during parliamentary sessions in which its action delayed and vowed to hold a peaceful demonstration accompanied by both sub-counties residents to block busy Nairobi -Mombasa road.

Residents asked him to vie for Machakos county gubernatorial seat citing that over the last four years Kathiani sub-county has developed and he is the only leader in Machakos whom they can trust following his exemplary work.
