Speaking Tuesday, the residents said the move would help bring an end to a notorious drug peddling syndicate that has reduced area youths into zombies.

"We really appreciate the move by the county government's security team to station an administrator here because that will help address the rampant drug abuse among our youths which has been occasioned by accessibility to such drugs thanks to some peddlers around," said Ferdinand Kimeu.

His sentiments were echoed by Eric Kamau who averred that the syndicate comprising hardcore criminals in the area was too smart for police officers who conducted occasional raids in a bid to arrest them adding  they continue to thrive in peddling illicit brews and bhang to the local youth.

Sub-county deputy county commissioner Elmi Shafi said an assistant chief would be stationed at a notorious spot within the estate  called the 'jobless corner' to help fight off the menace.

His sentiments came a few days after police in the area destroyed 5,000 litres of Kangara in the area.
