Kisii town residents said the street children were becoming a menace and a security threat to them.

Speaking to this reporter on Saturday in Kisii town, Kisii county community policing chairman Stephene Onsare who spoke on behalf of the residents said increased number of motorbike business at night and street children had seen an increase in crime.

Mr Onsare accused motorists of masquerading in the name of business but steal from the business people.

He challenged the security agencies to ensure security and protection of traders' belongings who have raised an alarm over the rate at which they are losing their goods.

"The increasing number of street children and motorbikes at night is a threat to the security of the town. The two groups are alleged to be stealing goods of traders at night. Motorists are as well alleged to be using their motorbikes to transport the stolen goods to other places where they cannot be found," claimed the community policing chairman.

He suggested that motorists operating at night be screened alleging that some come from outside Kisii mainly to loot other people's belongings.
