The Kisii County cooperation commissioner, Vincent Kenyariri has said there is a need for residents to be educated on how to from saccos and cooperatives.
According to Kenyariri, most saccos have not developed simply because the members did not receive enough civic education on how to manage them.
Speaking in his office, Kenyariri added that civic education is important since it will enable members to have the knowledge on how to manage themselves and on how they will do savings for development.
“Many cooperations and saccos have failed due to lack of civil education to the members on how they should handle themselves, hence, there is a need for the residents to be educated before they form any sacco,” said Kenyariri. In addition, he challenged residents to give extension officers humble time so that they can be educated for the same.
“Most of the residents are not ready to receive civic education but we encourage them that let them take time to welcome the officers so that they can get to know how they can manage the saccos once they have formed them,” said Kenyariri.
