The road is under the national government, with the road works set to be carried out by the Limuru constituency roads committee.

Area MP John Kiragu noted that the work would be carried out by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).

“It is the goal of the Jubilee government to improve the lives of Kenyans in all ways, and I know this road will positively affect the lives of the young and old in the area,” said MP Kiragu.

Margaret Wawira, a farmer, said she would have an easier task transporting her farm produce, including kales and spinach to the Limuru market.

“It gets very muddy when it rains and vehicles can hardly use the road, while when its dry, the dust affects our breathing and makes us cough a lot,” said Wawira.

Kiarie Njuguna, a resident of Murengeti, said the development of the road would add value to the cost of land in the area.

“Infrastructure development always comes with other benefits and we not only look forward to ease in transport but also high land prices in the area,” said Kiarie.

Murengeti has a favourable climate for agriculture, rich soils for dairy farming among other forms of agriculture.
