Residents of Kiamunyi area now want a traffic police officer to man the KFA roundabout in the area.
The residents claim that the area experiences heavy traffic jam in the morning and evenings, yet there is now one to control it.
“We are forced to stick in the jam for more than one hour yet it is a very short distance from town. We are forced to move very early in the morning. We suspect that the presence of the railway line around that area is what causes the jam as people do not want their vehicles spoilt,” said Stephen Mwangi, a resident.
David Kimemia, a driver cited that there was mass confusion considering some vehicles were moving into town while others were leaving the area.
“Drivers are forced to control themselves and some end up locking each other out. So much time is wasted and yet there is no formal control of vehicles,” he added.
Another resident, Dennis Otieno suggested they put traffic lights in the area to control the vehicles.
“The county government should consider the lights as they will be easy to manage and will not require maintenance costs,” he added.
Otieno also called on the traffic department to arrest traffic law offenders in the area who take advantage of the lack of law and order there.
