This comes few weeks after area county boss James Ongwae ordered for inclusivity of locals in developmental matters.

On Tuesday, Nyamage residents said the move by the governor was long overdue since it was the mandate of locals to maintain the roads as it used to be during the times of the defunct local municipalities.

“This is a great honor by the county government. Giving us an opportunity to maintain the roads is a massive step towards making our roads passable especially during rainy seasons,” said John Ochoki, a resident.

According to James Mrefu, the immediate former councillor, the move will see many youths get an opportunity to get an income for their sustainability.

“The most important thing here is that jobless youths will be rescued from the harsh economic “climate” due to exponential unemployment rates in our county and Kenya at large,” Mrefu said.

Many of those who benefited from the exercise were youths from both genders and will be closely supervised by the county to ensure they execute their duties as per the standards of the county government.
