Residents of Muhoroni have lauded OGRA Foundation's decision to set up Omen Feeding Center in the area as they say the project has changed lives of orphaned children in the area.
The project which was set up in 2007 by OGRA Foundation, a local NGO in Kisumu in partnership with Kenyan Orphaned Projects, a UK-based organisation is believed to be life-changing and residents say they are willing to give it the necessary support needed to make it more successful.
They say hundreds of orphaned children from the area have since found solace as the basic needs they require are made available even as they aim to fulfill their live ambitions.
"This project has turned to be the turning point in the lives of majority of the children in the locality. Most of them in the past had resorted to begging as a way to fulfill their unmet needs. Most of their parents died of HIV/Aids which is very rampant here. We are proud that the initiative has received good reception from the area," said Mr Peterlis Mbuya Mbuya, a board Member for OGRA Foundation.
He adds that the burning desire he has in helping the society is what keeps him going even as he asks the residents in the area to remain supportive as they aim to make Muhoroni orphans to feel loved and cared for.
Locals are happy that the project has helped transform the lives of orphaned children in the area.
"We are happy that this programme was initiated. We are happy for the good work it has done for the past eight years," said Arnold Ochieng'.
