Residents of Kimunyu Location in Ng’enda Ward, Gatundu South have praised area MP, Moses Kuria, for supporting education in the area.
Speaking at Kimunyu during the official opening of a new secondary school on Monday, the residents said that their MP deserves credit for supporting education infrastructure.
Gachoka Secondary School, a community-based secondary school, was opened by John Wainaina who said the education facility would help in addressing the shortage of learning institutions in the area.
He said that was a reprieve to the parents who are struggling to secure a vacancy for their children.
“Many parents had difficulty in securing a place for their children but with the effort of Kuria, their agony is now over,” said Wainaina.
The school has also received support from local residents and has admitted its first batch of 30 students.
“It is our hope the number of students will increase and help our children access affordable education,” said Wainaina.
Sam Njoroge, a parent at Ng’enda says that the school is a blessing.
“Our children have been walking many kilometres in search of education but now Gachoka will address this issue,” he said.
Lilian Wanjiku, a student at the newly-launched school said that they will step up their effort to give the school a mark at national level.
