Led by their spokesman Peter Kyalo, the locals claimed that the Nyoro Contracting Company is doing a shoddy job.

They said they should be given the quality of their taxes.

Kyalo said the road is being done slowly and poorly claiming it has potholes in completed sections.

"The road's construction started almost two years ago and only an eighth of the 32-kilometer road is done as per now. The done part already has potholes, the work is poor and slow. We are not getting the value for our taxes," Kyalo said.

He said the government should give the tender to another contractor if Nyoro Contracting Company fails to improve its work.

The residents threatened to stage demonstrations if the contractor continues to construct the road poorly.

Kathiani MP Robert Mbui on Friday said he will himself lead the demonstrations of the contractor fails to improve on his construction works.

"People of Mitaboni need quality, we can't stand and do nothing while we are not getting the services we need. The contractor and engineer on that road should up their game," Mbui said.
