The residents claimed they had lost household items to unidentified thugs who invade their houses during the day and their businesses during the night.

Two days ago, the residents woke up to find thugs having broken into one of the leading shops in the area and having made away with goods worth thousands of shillings.

Another shop owner, Joseph Mwangi, said the thugs tried to break the padlock of his shop but failed before moving to a nearby salon and made away with salon equipment.

“They have become a menace in this region and we want police to help flush them out,” said Mwangi.

The residents said they have reported the matter to the police but no action has been taken so far.

Lake View representative Simon Wanyoike Wanango said robberies incidents had increased in the area.

“Residents should refrain from buying household goods suspected to have been stolen,” Wanyoike told area residents.

The area police boss, Charles Kortok, said police in the area had intensified patrols in order to curb the criminal activities.
