Residents of Nyamataro area in Kitutu Chache South have urged the government to set up slow bumps along the Kisii–Nyakoe–Mosocho following increased road accidents.

Residents said Kisii county government should work with the national government to have the bumps erected on the road to ensure speeding motorists drive at a recommended speed.

"We have lost over 7 people most of them being kids going to school since November last year along the road. Motorists over speed along the road because there are no speed bumps,” said Christine Ondigo.

The locals blamed police officers for taking bribes from motorists who operate on the road yet they have not qualified to operate.

“Police officers working at roadblocks are failures because they are taking bribes daily to allow careless motorists plying Kisii–Nyakoe– Mosocho–Oyugis–Kisumu route. Kisii Governor James Ongwae should move with speed to save lives by directing the bumps be erected on the road,” noted James Obina.

Obina challenged area MP Richard Onyonka to push the national government to expand the road to curb accidents caused when drivers overtake.
