Democracy And Good Governance Chairman Moses Gitonga lead the residents saying that the move was unprocedural and unconstitutional.

“The allocation of funds to construct a polytechnic in Coulson Boys high school was unprocedural. The school is a government operated institution,” he added.

Gitonga said that they noticed people marking the school boundaries and when they complained to the authorities, they were referred to the County’s director of Youth Affairs/ Vocational training.

“we have tried to contact all the relevant authorities including the PS for Education, but we have not received any feedback or any way forward. Recently they started digging trenches in the area and pulled down the fence,” added Gitonga.

The residents now want the county government to explain what is going on.

Maina Njerua, a resident said, “There were no meeting to discuss the appropriate location to build the proposed polytechnic in the area. The government sat down and decided that they wanted to build one.”

They vowed to fight the project, alleging that the government had allocated Sh60 million in every sub county to build a polytechnic yet they never wanted to purchase land.
