The over delayed construction of the four kilometres Molo- Kibunja road has angered residents leading to a protest.

The irate residents accused a local contractor of taking long to complete construction work.

According to the residents, several people most of them bodaboda operators have been robbed off between Molo and Kibunja.

The road has been in a sorry state for a long time exposing travelers to robbers.

A spot check revealed that a section of the road has been closed but no construction work is going on.

Three stalled construction machines were also found on the site with only one grader leveling the ground.

There are also sections of the road that have been sealed off with warning tapes in sections where the contractor intends to build culverts.

“Despite a Chinese contractor having been awarded a tender for rehabilitation of the Molo-Olenguruone road at the same time as Buffloc investment, the Molo- Kibu8nja road is yet to be constructed” they said.

The road was one of the Jubilee government campaign promises where President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy promised to have the work completed within three months.

A previous contractor moved out of site following numerous complaints from the locals and the Kenya rural authority awarded a fresh contract to Nakuru-based Buffloc investments last year.

The contractor is also to work on the section of the road from Molo town to Molo police station and Molo town to Molo sub-county hospital.

Mr. David Njuguna technical officer with Buffloc investments limited said on phone that the contract is not behind schedule adding that they intent to tarmac the road soon.

He blamed destruction of Kibunja road to heavy trucks that normally transport material to Itare dam in Kuresoi north that is currently under construction.

“Most motorists using this road ignore the slow down road signs thus blowing a lot of dust that end up being a nuisance to the locals,” said Njuguna.
