South Mugirango residents have faulted Environment Cs Keriako Tobiko for opposing the construction of a Sugar factory in the region.
According to the residents, Tobiko is a nobody to oppose the projects which will improve the lives of the people not only in Kisii County but across the country.
"It is shameful for Tobiko to oppose the construction of a sugar factory by saying that Nyangweta forest should not be cleared to give room for the setting up of the sugar factory," said Justine Nyabuto a local.
Ms Maureen Ogando also a local said that Tobiko's decision to oppose the building of the factory is political and unacceptable.
"The arguments by the CS are uncalled for and we cannot allow him to direct us yet he is a non-local. The Senate should ignore the CS," she said.
This comes after Mr Tobiko raised concern that the forest cover in Kisii county is 2.6 percent against the requirement of 10 percent.
He argued that taking away 120 acres to build a sugar factory in Nyangweta forest will diminish the forest cover further.
