Residents in Eldoret have taken to the streets to protest against the failed launch of a fertiliser factory by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The residents are accusing Deputy President William Ruto of failing to honour his promise of reducing the price of fertiliser and maize.
This comes after the much awaited commissioning of the multi-billion fertiliser plant at Ngeria, was postponed indefinitely.
The decision was reached at following the unavailability of the President, who was scheduled to officially commission the factory today (Thursday).
The Sh103 billion factory which is the first of its kind in Africa was constructed through a partnership between the national government and Toyota Tsusho East Africa Limited.
It was expected that once commissioned, the factory would immediately start operations whereby its expected to manufacture over 150,000 metric tones of blended fertiliser for specific soils.
