Residents and the youth have protested water bourses that are spraying roads under construction with water.
The residents claim that the move by the county government to waste water on road repairs is uncalled for and unnecessary.
Majority of the feeder roads going to Kaptembwa, Soko Mjinga and Rhonda Ng’ambo are under repair and water trucks have been spraying them with water to lessen the dust.
“It’s unfair for them to waste water yet we have not seen any water supplied in this area for more than three months. We do not have water for cooking and yet they can afford to pour it all over,” said Megan Wanjiru.
She cited that they are forced to buy water after NAWASCO ceased to give them water since November last year.
Another resident Daniel Kamau cited that the county government had set their priorities wrong.
“Why construct roads and yet people are dying due to lack of water. They should have considered initiatives that will see residents get waters flowing into their taps. Otherwise we need water more than road access. In fact, the roads were already in perfect condition and they are just wasting public funds,” Kamau added.
Njeri Kimani claimed that the roads in questions were rarely used.
“Only bicycles and motorbikes use this routes. We do not know why the county is prioritizing road repair unless someone is benefitting from the contracts,” she added.
