Farmers in Kipini, Lake Chenje and Jipendeni on the Lamu - Tana River border are living in fear following the invasion of the villages by herders.

The more than 500 farmers in Witu division, Lamu West said the herders from Tana River county graze their animals on their farms.

The farmers led by James Nyawiri said the herdsmen attacks residents who demand the animals to be driven away.

"Farmers are encountering losses from the invasion. The herders have gone to the extent of attacking residents who ask them to drive away the animals from the farms. We can't tolerate this anymore, let relevant authorities intervene and save our farm products", said Nyawiri.

He called on Lamu and Tana River counties to hold talks and end the herders invasion before conflicts arise.
