They say they are worried as the situation continues deteriorating and the dry spell which goes up to April may harm them.

Joseph Maina, a resident, said they are forced to walk for long distances in search of the vital commodity.

He said the situation is worse for those who cannot walk as the cost of water has escalated by more than 100 per cent.

Maina said hawkers are selling a twenty litre jerrican for Sh 30-40 up from the usual price of Sh 15.

He said some of the families may go without water as the commodity has become more expensive than food.

Maina urged the Nakuru Water and Sanitation Services Company (Nawassco) to address the problem before it gets worse.

This comes few days after Nawassco managing director blamed illegal connections for the water shortage within the county.
