Residents of Site area in Naivasha have raised an alarm over the emergence of a seven-man gang that has been terrorising the residents lately. The gang, the residents argue, hides behind thickets and bushes and preys on taxi and motorbike riders. The gang reportedly waylaid and robbed more than three people in the area on Thursday night. The residents cited that they also hid in the gulley popularly known as Mukuru where they attacked residents on being passing by. “Anytime it is dark we get waylaid and loose cash, mobile phones and are often beaten,” said Eunice Njeri. The residents argued that it got worse especially when it rained as they could not be able to see clearly around the bushes. “We are appealing to the government to improve the security in the area and at least send police officers to cover here,” pleaded Brian Mwaura. Nominated Member of County Assembly Esther Magere said she would start an initiative to clear the bushes on Monday. “It’s our own responsibility to at least ensure that they do not have any gateways. I am appealing to the residents of Site to come up and help clean the area by slashing the grass and cutting down of all the bushes in that area. This will make them visible and hence they will not attack us easily,” she added.
