Residents of Nyawitta have raised concern over the poor drainage in the area.
They claimed the poor drainage poses a health risk to them.
According to the residents who talked to this writer, the drainage trenches in the area have blocked, and the waste is therefore getting into the homes of residents.
"Almost everyday, I have to find a means of directing sewage from my compound. This task is tiring," said Monicah Jeruto a resident of the area.
Speaking on Tuesday, the residents said the sewage issue is posing a cholera health risk to them. They are majorly concerned about the well being of children who sometime play in the sewage.
"Sometime children play in the overflowing sewage, this is risky especially with cholera. We are calling on the relevant authorities to assist us solve this problem," said Gregory Ochieng.
With the April rains around the corner, the residents are concerned that, the situation might get worse where sewage might mix with their drinking water.
A majority of the residents in the area depend on underground water from wells for usage.
Efforts to get a comment fro Kiumu City manager office Grace Ombare were futile as our calls went unanswered.
