Residents of Matumani have called on the county government to dig trenches to enable the passage of water that is flooding the area.
Residents who spoke to this writer on Friday said their fears are that their could be an outbreak of diseases like malaria due to the stagnant water.
They also disclosed that their children now lack playgrounds because of the stagnant water.
"Stagnant water could be breeding grounds for mosquitoes which could cause malaria, there are no trenches to enable free flow of water and the situation is worse since the water does not sink to the ground," said Aurellia Mwelu a resident in the area.
In an exclusive interview with the sub county Adminstrator Victor Kiatu, Mr Kiatu said the matter will be addressed as soon as possible to bring activities back to normal in the area.
"I received the information about the situation around Matumani and it will be looked into so the residents should not worry," said Kiatu.
However, the residents claimed the situation has been the same whenever they pass their grievances to the county government and they are afraid that their cries may fall into deaf ears.
