As Kenyans from various counties reacted with surprise and disbelief to the dramatic nomination of controversial lawyer and socio-political commentator Miguna Miguna, the residents of Garissa were not left behind.
They were equally struck by a sense of surprise and disbelief by the blindsiding development.

''I couldn't believe it when I saw that letter being shared on social media and then it was confirmed that it was genuine. I couldn't believe it still,'' Dulo Ahmed said.
''One day in politics is like a thousand days. Anything can happen so I am not that surprised,'' Rege Khatib said.
''Hopefully, that nomination will help Nairobi reclaim its lost glory,'' Medina Sukre said.
''This was a wise nomination from Sonko. The wisest decision that he has ever taken,'' Hassan Balo said.
''I wish the residents of Nairobi all the best,'' Salo Amin said.
''One hopes that Miguna's nomination will inject the much-needed momentum that has been lacking,'' Abdilatiff Sumo said.

The letter that went viral on social media materialised in the evening as the media worked hard to confirm its authenticity.
Attempts of some of the outlets to reach out to Governor Sonko for confirmation came to nought as his phone had been switched off.
