The residents of Garissa have been reacting to reports that their governor's university credentials are 'fake'.
The University of Nairobi, in a public statement, said that it did not recognise his master's degree that the governor claims to have gotten from the institution in 2011.
''I don't believe that the degree of our governor is fake as is being claimed by the University of Nairobi. Our governor is an honest person,'' Salim Nasir says.
''We are shocked by the news because we fear that he may lose his seat if the claims are true. We love our governor,'' Madina Salo, a resident of Mbalambala says.
Most reactions have been shadowed with shock and unbelief.
Ali Kunow won the August 8 Garissa gubernatorial contest, upstaging his predecessor Nadhif Jama.
