President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday dismissed claims that Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's nomination of lawyer Miguna Miguna as his deputy was intimidating him.
Speaking while issuing 50, 000 title deeds to Embakasi residents, the Head of State noted that he was open to working with all leaders regardless of their political affiliation.
"What kind of intimidation are you talking about? No!No! Am not that kind of a person Sonko! As the Head of state, am ready to work with all the leaders irrespective of their political affiliation”he said.
The President's comment elicited mixed reactions among Garissa residents.
Here are some of the reactions:
Abdullahi Hussein: I think the Governor should not have uttered such a statement to the President in front of wananchi, as it demeans his authority.
Saadia Mahat: The President is the Commander-in-chief. So threatening him is inappropriate.
Mohamud Swaleh: The Governor should not have dragged the issues of Miguna to the function, since Miguna and the President do not see eye to eye.
Abdirahman Dekow: This persistent disagreement between the President and the Governor only shows the invisible cracks within the ruling party.
Mumina Abdullah: In my opinion, the governor should stick to his role and stop picking unnecessary war with his bosses.
