Residents of Nyalenda B Ward have reallocated a budget for a road and lighting project to other areas.
During a budget public participation on Thursday, the locals reallocated funds meant for the construction of Joel Omino access road and that of lights at Dunga beach.
The area ward representative James Oyugi Were said the locals realised the two projects are set to be implemented by World Bank which is funding some projects in the area.
Were said the locals argued that the funds allocated by the county government to implement the same projects should be reallocated to other projects.
“They have suggested that the funds be reallocated to beef up medical equipment at the local dispensaries,” he said.
Speaking in his ward after the forum, Were lauded his people for turning up to participate in the budget making.
He said the views of the locals will be taken to the executive before another round of public participation to confirm if the needs are catered for.
“This is what devolution entails, locals sit down and discuss the budget and make adjustments,” he said.
Were said if the projects that are budgeted for are well implemented then the ward will get a complete facelift.
