Nairobians expressed heated reactions after Governor Mike Sonko took to social media to announce the arrival of Djibouti President Ismail Guelleh.
While some heaped praise on the governor for what they termed a good leadership he was providing, others hit out at him for failing Nairobians.
Those against the governor insisted that the city was going through problems and welcoming the president would not solve any of those.
"Welcoming H.E Ismail Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti together with Foreign Affairs CS Amb. Dr. Monica Juma and Industrialization CS Adan Mohamed at JKIA," Sonko posted on his Facebook account.
But Nairobians would not take it positively.
Gitonga Nick said: "Deal with Nairobi.... First wacha kiherehere mingi.... Drainage shida, jam shinda, hawkers CBD shida, water and stima shina... I wish I knew."
Wanza M Josay posted a satirical comment and linked the failure of Nairobi on the governor.
"Thank you gvn. Is Tom Mboya street still under KURA? Even garbage collection is under KENHA but Nairobians don't know. County government is only mandated to build all roads and collect all garbage in Facebook and Twitter and you have already done that. Sending goons is also part of devolution," Josey posted
Jensen Peter said: "Is welcoming state visitors part of a governors JD? Someone help me understand. if not why is the governor on this all the time when Nairobi is dirty.?"
Sam Kaseve said: "Majaa mpunguze speed.... Mlitufungia barabara ndio HE Ismail aone vile kuenda town ni 2 minutes from JKIA? Surely speed doesn't kill big men."
Mbozi ZA Malwa said: "Does he know you are a criminal? So unfortunate you were rigged in."
However, there were also those who sided with the governor.
Kisa Simba said: "Sonko is a great leader, no way a problem of many years can be solved in months. God bless n may you live long...."
Another user Dun Castro complimented the governor and said he was poised to become the next president of the country.
"Our Next President bravo ur excellency," he said.
