Garissa residents living in Hulugho sub county will start benefiting from cheap power connections as the government will commission Hulugho power supply from next year.

Hulugho sub county commissioner Tom Siele said the programme has the potential to transform lives of the rural people who have been marginalized for a long time as they will be able to access electricity.

Mr Siele said that the programme to extend power to Hulugho will also improve education standards and small scale businesses in the area.

He also noted that power supply will open up economic activities as people will be able to engage more in businesses even during late hours of the night.

Mr Siele asked those who will benefit from the programme to use electricity for income generating activities to improve their living standards and the economy.

“The launch of this project will improve the living conditions of hundreds of Hulugho residents in the county. I know it has been a long wait for many who want to see their businesses grow but are hindered by electricity challenges,” he said.

The commissioner added that the project will be fundamental in enhancing security in the region.
