Residents of Kanaani slum in Athi River, Machakos County were on Tuesday shocked after they found fetus damped by the roadside.
The fetus was wrapped in a white towel and placed inside a box.
Eyewitnesses said it was first spotted by pupils from Kanaani Primary School as they were returning home at 5.00pm on Tuesday.
"When a few pupils noticed it, they called others and soon there was a big crowd of school children and residents, each wanting to get a glimpse.
The box containing the fetus was abandoned by the roadside leading to Kanaani Secondary School, just about 10 meters from the gate," Jane Mwende said.
They spoke to this writer in Athi River town on Tuesday."No one has called the police yet.
It is rumored the fetus might have been abandoned between 3 pm to 4 pm.
This is because it was not there when the pupils broke out for lunch," said the school's guard who confided to the writer for fear of victimization.
The residents condemned the incident terming it as inhuman.
They urged the area police to investigate into the matter and arrest the woman who dumped the fetus after conducting an abortion.
