Traders at the Daraja Mbili market had to flee for their safety and their goods due to the crowd which frightened them during the demonstrations, however, the demonstrations went on peacefully as the demonstrators proceeded to the county commissioner’s office to hand over their grievances to the county commissioners office.

At the county commissioners office, tight security was observed with the anti-riot police officers ready to calm the situation if chaos were to arise.

After handing their request to the deputy county commissioner Mr Peter Mbugi, the demonstrators proceeded to the Kisii county governor’s office demanding an address by either the county governor or his deputy county governor who sent two representatives but the demonstrators refused to listen.

They also said that the Nyamagundo police station in which the two police officers who shot dead the two traders should be closed.
