A section of Kisumu County residents have differed with an opinion poll released by a national newspaper on Tuesday rating their Governor Jack Ranguma as the worst Governor 2014. The residents said the poll is misleading and aimed at tarnishing the name of the Governor. A boda boda rider James Opiyo said the poll is not factual and is a mere political tool. Opiyo said such opinion polls are aimed at distracting the attention of the governors noting that the administrators need time to fulfill their pledges. “Who carried such polls and what was the motive, these are just political tools to distract attention of Ranguma,” he said. Jacktone Omondi, a cobbler also disagreed noting that the people of Kisumu County did not take part in that opinion. Omondi noted that as residents of Kisumu County they have not seen anything bad on how Ranguma is running the county. “We are the residents of this county and so far we are not complaining, how else can an opinion poll say that Ranguma is the worst performer this year,” he wondered. He further noted that Ranguma is slowly addressing some of the issues he promised to tackle during his campaign time. “We now have flood lights in our residential areas and cases of insecurity are drastically coming down. Business is growing because you can now do business until late due to flood lights,” he said. The opinion poll rated Nakuru Governor Mbugua as the second worst Governor while Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok came third while Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho followed respectively.
