They pointed out that the rain water was affected by poor drainage in the area and could lead to cases of drowning or vehicles being swept away in case the heavy rains started.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, the residents claimed that the roads were completely impassable once the rains fell and it would get worse once the heavy rains started pounding.

The irate residents claimed that the expansion of the drainage system and the management of the storm water had been budgeted for in the previous county budgets but none had been implemented.

“During public participation one of the issues we have been raising was the water management and we have about 5 million that has been budgeted fro to clear the drainage system and, unfortunately, our local MP has been ignoring the calls to push for the implementation,” said Peter Kabui

They cited that the rain water was hazardous to the residents.

“Last week many of us were trapped in the town center after a five minutes downpour. Unfortunately, the water swept five cars and many of us were forced to park in the middle of the road to avoid being swept by the floods. This was a great risks as any one of us would have been crashed from any direction,” said Ann Njambi.
