The residents pointed out Turi in Molo and Kiandege in Naivasha as the most affected areas.

The irate residents claimed that the liquor fighting body had failed to bring to book the people behind the manufacturing of the drinks which has claimed more than 1,000 people in the county.

“The local administration has been largely involved in the distribution and sale of the illicit liquor in the area and nothing is being done. There is no legal action taken against them despite video evidence of some of them receiving bribes from the brewers or even been caught on camera taking the brew,” said Joyce Wangari, a resident from Molo.

Peter Wambugu from Bondeni area said the sale of the illicit liquor was responsible for the cholera cases that were being experienced in the area.

“The drinks are brewed under unhygienic conditions and yet NACADA has carried out raids in the area but has never shut down the dens.” He quipped

Ali Mohammed said the laxity by NACADA has continually given leeway to the brewers to continue killing more people.

“Many people have also been blinded or left maimed by the drinks,” he added .

They intend to move to court on Tuesday next week.

NACADA Chairman John Mututho could not be reached for comment as his calls went unanswered.
