Nakuru county Residents will now be able to access title deed information online to ease service delivery.
County Lands executive, Racheal Maina, said that they will soon begin the process of uploading information regarding ownership of parcels of land on their website to enable residents access the information.
Maina said that this will help to curb increased cases of land grabbing.
“Residents will now be able to conduct the search online and establish who is the rightful owner of the piece of land. This will enable them to make informed decisions when buying land,” said Maina.
She noted that this will also create transparency among the land owners and the government.
“We will create a web portal whereby the residents can pose different questions regarding land in the county and we will be able to answer them back. We will also sort out the issues that can be handled online and refer the ones we cannot to the relevant authorities,” added Maina.
She cautioned women’s groups to be careful when purchasing land, citing that many had fallen victims to con men in the area.
“Before you purchase any piece of land ensure that you have done enough background research and you are aware of the genuine owner of the property,” said Maina.
