Residents of Kisumu county and it's environs are set to benefit from a three - day free breast and cervical cancer screening and treatment exercise.
The exercise will be held at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) from Thursday March 15, 2018 to Saturday March 17 2018.
Mr. Lamech Oooh, one of the event organizers said that they want people to come out and get tested in order to know their cancer status.
“It is an event aimed at carrying out cancer awareness campaign. We urge members of
the public especially women to come out get tested and know their status. Those who are affected will start treatment immediately,” said Mr. Oyoo.
“Cancer can only be treated if detected early enough. Early detection can only be realized through testing,” he added.
He urged Kisumu residents to attend the event in large numbers adding that the exercise will be absolutely free.
The exercise will be conducted by medics from JOOTRH, and Eldoret’s Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).
The event will be held in collaboration with various stake holders that include: Kisumu county government, Tumaini La Maisha Health Services, AMPATH and Africa Cancer Foundation.
