Kaptembwa, Gilanis, Koinange and Shabab estates have not had water which has prompted them to raise the concerns.

“Even water vendors do not have water to sell to the people. We have had water rationed in this area for more than three weeks forcing us to ration the little that we have,” said Jane Kinyanjui.

She cited that they had to look for water from Langalanga and Kenlands for their daily use.

“We have not been able to wash clothes or clean the houses in a long while. We have tried raising the concern with the Nakuru Water and Sewerage Services and have even visited their offices. They have however, neglected our pleas and gave us empty promises. They told us that the water supply would be resumed last week but they did not honour their pledge,” said Peninah Nyambura.

An officer attached to the Water offices, who sought anonymity as he is not allowed to speak to the press, admitted that the shortage was after four water pumps burst and had not been repaired.

“We are awaiting the repairs of the pumps after which the water supply will return to normal. However this might be after the festive season,” the officer revealed.
