Kenya Legal and Ethical Issues Network on HIV & Aids (Kelin) will on July 29 provide free legal advice to residents of Kibera as confirmed by the area MP, Ken Okoth.
According to Kelin's press release on Tuesday, the legal camp targets persons living with HIV (PLHIV) and those whose health-related human rights have been violated.
Lucy Ghati, the programme manager of HIV &TB at Kelin said that PLHIV have their rights but are always violated. However, Kelin has come out strongly to condemn this saying it will work with a pool of pro bono lawyers to give free legal advice on a wide array of the legal issues.
''PLHIV suffers both the burden of the disease and the consequential loss of other rights,'' read part of the press release.
The Camp which will be held on at Mchanganyiko Social Hall grounds from 9:00 am is supported by Women Fighting AIDS in Kenya (Wofak), National Empowerment Network of People Living with HIV in Kenya (Nephak) in conjunction with office of the Kibera MP.
