Speaking at Machakos town on Tuesday, Muthama said that the people have a right to demand for better and quality services from the county and the national government.

Muthama added that the constitution has given the people a right to demand services from the government and leaders.

“Kenyan people have the right to demand provision of services from the government and leaders,” he said.

The senator observed that Kenyan has transformed itself stating that times when Kenyans were victimized for speaking out are no longer here.

Muthama lashed out at the national government accusing it of trying to take the country back to the dark days.

He said that the gains made so far in terms of democracy and reforms should be guarded against selfish leaders.

The senator said that the opposition will remain alert and will not side with laws or policies that are meant to infringe on the freedom of Kenyans.

Muthama at the same time asked Ukambani leaders to work towards improving the living standards of the people.

He said that time has come for Ukambani to shine saying that for a long time the region had been neglected on matters of development.
