[Photo/Facebook]Maraba residents in Juja sub-county wants the county government of Kiambu to ban lorry drivers from using Maraba-Witeithie road and instead use Ndarugu-Nyacaba road.Residents have vowed to block the road themselves if no action is taken saying they are tired of repairing the road by themselves and thereafter 'the lorries damage it within a week'."It is high time the county government did something or all the residents of Maraba will block the Maraba Witeithie road and have the lorries use the Ndarugu-Nyacaba road," Matthew Michuri, a resident, said on Monday. The road is usually used by lorry drivers transporting building materials to various construction sites within Juja and neighbouring sub-counties."This Nyacaba road earns revenue for the county government and that is where these drivers should be directed to. Here they earn nothing and that is why they leave us to repair the road on our own after trucks damage it," says John Magua, a bodaboda rider.Residents called on the county roads and transport department to move in with speed and bring in some sanity in the roads under its control. They said overloading by some truck drivers had continued to damage the road despite their efforts to rehabilitate it.
