Currently the county government has one fire engine which is expected to serve the whole county which has over two million people.

Francis Thuku an artisan in Mbaruk shopping centre whose business was recently reduced to ashes said this will help to raise security in the area.

Thuku said that when fire broke in his store he decided to call the Nakuru fire engine only to be told that it has gone for another mission in Molo.

"If there were two engines in station then may be it could have helped to save my properties,” notes Thuku.

His sentiment was echoed by George Maingi a businessman who said that the county government need to invest in the machines.

“The county has witnessed several fire out breaks this year and you find out that most residents are not in a position to save their belongings due to poor equipped fire engine,” notes Maingi.

"They should not wait for a disaster to strike for them to start planning for the engine,” said Maingi.
